Tod Brody (Scott Sheppard) Fraud Blog

A blog of dealings with Tod Brody aka Tod Scott Brody aka Scott Sheppard.

Tod Brody in my opinion is a con-man who presents himself as a producer, film maker, and photographer in order to gain income through deceiving others. Also be aware that if you are currently renting an apartment to Mr. Brody you will more than likely receive your rent in bad checks.

If you have a story about your experience with Tod Brody that you would like posted to this site please email the text to todbrodyfraudblog@gmail.com

Tod Warning

(personal information has been redacted with ******)

Tod hired me to design his business cards. After he approved the design cost and the printing fees, we went to press on the cards. He skipped out on his bill of 1000 card saying he didnt like them. they were exactly what he asked for. Then he never paid me for the design costs. He sent me an email saying he sent my check and it bounced back. He attached the attached picture of a “return to sender” piece of mail. My local post office said it doenst even have a stamp like that. he clearly forged it.

See the last email i got from him below. Apparently he just narrowly escaped an amputation. this guys is full of excuses. Please post this story to your blog if you’d like.

***********************,

I apologize.  There’s really no excuse that you haven’t been paid at this point.

I’m in California where I’ve been recuperating from complications from severe diabetes.  I was shooting in Tampa when I became very ill and was hospitalized for several days, barely avoiding an amputation. I developed a severe infection and was on antibiotics for almost almost a month.  When I was well enough to travel, I came out to my mom’s where I’ve been for two months now.  I don’t have my checkbook with me, but I’ll find a way to get you paid quickly.  I’ll ask a friend in NY to do it for me.

I’ll get back to you over the weekend.

Best,

Tod

***********************,

As I said yesterday, I’m sending your check this morning.

As for Color Inc, and the cards, just ask them to send you one and let me know what you think.  The embossing is almost non-existent.  Not quite as bad as the first set of cards I received in 2006, but close. I would never use them.  The intended effect just isn’t there.

Anyway, you did your part, and you did it well, so there was never any intent on my part not to pay your invoice.  You have my sincere apology for not paying it previously.  In all this mess with the execution of the cards, I just forgot that you hadn’t been paid.

Have a lovely weekend, and enjoy the snow!  I hear another storm is on the way for Monday.

I will also send you the final files to take to another printer after payment is received. I have a printer who said he would letterpress the cards for you, but he will require payment info prior to printing a job.
Since i wasn’t on the calls with you and Chris, i cant really say what you guys talked about, but i appreciate you recognizing my design work. I am happy to give you a list of printers in NY/LA area for you to arrange
the printing with if you’d like. Ill be sure to give you a packaged folder of the files that you could fwd right to a printer.

Have a nice weekend.

***********************,

Perhaps I wasn’t clear in my previous e-mail.  I have no intention of paying Color, Inc for what I consider substandard work.  Your bill, however I will pay, and I’ll send you a check tomorrow.  If Color, Inc. wants to pursue this legally, please tell them to do so.  Their poor work speaks for itself, and the record of my conversations with them is not as they claim.  I’m more than willing to have my attorney deal with them.

As for your report with the BBB, it’s meaningless to me, and they haven’t even contacted me for a response which is indeed strange.  I’ve filed complaints with them myself, and they always get both sides of the story.

Regards,

Tod

Hello Tod, We need to settle your bill with Color Inc. and myself. I am willing to drop the report i have filed with the BBB if we can come to some conclusion among ourselves. If it would be easier, i can have my lawyer contact you directly. Im happy to cooperate in which ever way works best for you.

Subject: Cards

***********************,

I couldn’t be more disappointed in the cards.  Your printer sent one to my mom’s house with an invoice, and the embossing is absolutely horrible and unacceptable.  It’s marginally better than the original printing I rejected in 2006.  Please have them send you one so you can see what I’m talking about.  I will send both you and them one of my good cards so you can see the embossing done well.  Additionally, the size and width of the embossed image is too small, and not in the same proportion as the final layout you showed me and I approved.

I would be embarrassed to give anyone one of these.  You have to squint to make out the embossed type.
